October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
For more than 20 years this month has shined a spotlight on the importance of taking action to reduce risks when online and using connected devices.
Cyber threats don’t take time off.
As your trusted financial partner, TCT urges all of our members to take one action this month to improve your cybersecurity.
1. Update Software - Updating software and devices is the easiest way to stay protected from security threats. Perform updates as soon as they become available or set automatic updates.
2. Use Strong Passwords - All passwords should be:
- LONG: At least 16 characters
- RANDOM: Use a random string of mixed-case letters, numbers and symbols, like: Yuc8$RikA34%ZoPPao98t
- UNIQUE: Never reuse passwords
- Keep your passwords safe by using a PASSWORD MANAGER!
3. Turn on Multifactor Authentication: Multifactor authentication provides an extra layer of security for your accounts. Choose the most secure MFA method available. A physical security key provides the best protection and is easy to use.
4. Recognize and Report Phishing Scams: Keep an eye out for phishing and other scam attempts in your emails, texts, direct messages or phone calls. Always verify the sender before clicking links or downloading attachments. If you spot a scam, report it to TCT or to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Add a Verbal Password to your TCT Accounts
All TCT Members are encouraged to add a verbal password to your account. A verbal password helps TCT Staff verify your identity over the phone and can defend your account from fraud. It is easy to add a verbal password to your TCT accounts - simply log in to Online/Mobile Banking and send us a secure message by clicking on the envelope icon. Alternatively, you can call TCT during business hours to add a verbal password.

What is a shared branch?
Shared branching is a national network that allows members of participating credit unions to conduct financial transactions at any other credit union branch within the network. Even when traveling far from TCT branches, shared branching provides access to thousands of convenient credit union locations for services like deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments. Your accounts and membership remain with TCT, but you can access services at a shared branch with your TCT member number and a valid ID.
Benefits of shared branching include;
It's convenient for credit union members and helps them avoid out-of-network bank ATM fees.
You can conduct financial transactions at thousands of other participating credit unions. This gives you access to your money nationwide to do any of the following activities:
- Transfer funds to another account
- Deposit money
- Withdraw money
- Make a loan payment
- Cash checks
At shared branches, you won't be able to open new TCT accounts.
Finding a shared branch
