Late Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2019, a fire broke out at the headquarters of Operation Adopt A Soldier at 4281 Route 50 in Wilton. Several fire departments and first responders responded to the scene and immediately started to attack the blaze that started in the utility room of the building which is also home to an apartment and another business. The fire resulted in a total loss of the building's contents which included donations and more than 260 packages ready to be sent to troops serving overseas. Firefighters were able to save two American Flags that encompassed signatures of military personnel. TCT branches are currently collecting monetary donations to help the organization as well as items to be mailed to active duty military personnel stationed worldwide. The Operation Adopt a Soldier organization runs on 100% volunteered time and donations, so anything we can contribute helps tremendously.
